GEORGES ST-PIERRE AND ROYER, A NATURAL FIT

Georges St-Pierre (GSP) was born and raised in St-Isidore, Quebec, a tiny town of 2200 inhabitants. After seeing him fall prey to bullying, his father introduced him to karate. Georges quickly developed a real talent for martial arts, achieving by the age of 12 the rank of second Dan in Kyokushin karate.

Georges, being a perfectionist, always sought to improve and diversify his skills. He later learned boxing, wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu, and Muay Thai kickboxing.

Through perseverance, discipline and survival instinct, he quickly rose to the ranks of the world’s most accomplished athletes. GSP is synonymous with respect – respect for his opponent, respect for the sport, and respect for his fans. GSP epitomizes the unwavering will to excel, to do things right and to be the best.

In 1934, well before Georges St-Pierre, Louis-Philippe Royer was barely making ends meet in the midst of an economic crisis. Survival instinct led him to open a small shoemaking workshop in his Lac-Drolet home.

WORKING HARD. MAKING SACRIFICES. THAT’S THE BATTLE THAT GSP AND MANUAL WORKERS FIGHT EVERY DAY. FOR THEM, UTILIZING THEIR STRENGTH TO ACCOMPLISH GREAT THINGS IS A WAY OF LIFE. AND IT’S IN THIS SAME SPIRIT THAT ROYER DEVELOPS ITS PRODUCTS.

This small workshop would, in time, become the facility that still proudly stands in the centre of the village today. Nearly one hundred workers still craft boots and shoes for those who, day after day, put their hearts and souls into their work.

Perseverance, resourcefulness and persistence have led ROYER to make boots and shoes that outperform all others.

If you compare GSP’s journey to that of our brand, you will quickly see the similarities engrained in the beliefs and value that guide us. Respect for hard work, integrity, rigour, persistence and the desire to excel are at the core of ROYER and Georges St-Pierre’s shared DNA, wich explains why this partnership is a natural fit!
